That's Just How We Roll

So the kids are adjusting to getting up every morning and being at school. The kids also have soccer practice in the evenings. The result of course is that the kids are little more tired than normal. This is to be expected. But to top it all off, after a fairly mild summer (for us), the temps have been in the 100's this week, as in 107 when I picked up Jake from school at 3pm and still 98 when we left his soccer practice at 7pm.

Soooo, despite the fact that we should have been sticking to our bedtime routine, relaxing and making sure the kids were in bed on time, if not early, we decided to do something totally wild and crazy and spontaneous. We went for an evening swim. Yes, we are such rule breakers. That's just how we roll.

Forgive my ill-fitting bathing suit:

But, oh did it feel oh so good. I'll let you know if it was worth it when I see how tired the kids are this afternoon.

A swim before bedtime is ALWAYS worth it at our house, because there is a remarkable difference in how well the kids sleep. The other night, we did not get to swim because of a storm, and the kids did not sleep well at all and came into our room (nothing to do with the storm, it had passed hours before). They just did not get to swim that energy out.
