I was so thankful for the opportunity to see friends over Thanksgiving break, friends that I don't get to see as often as I would like. On Monday the kids and I drove over to 29 Palms to get their hair cuts and visit with the Niles family. On Tuesday, Rose and the boys came out to visit and I got a jump start on prepping the stuffing to bring for Thanksgiving dinner. On Wednesday the kids got to together with their friends to play while I chatted with the moms. It was a low-key and fun start to our break.
On Thursday I was so thankful for the opportunity to join Cruz and Tara for the 1st Annual Big Bear Turkey Trot. Although we had just done the Graffiti Run, I didn't get to run the full distance since I was with the kids. This was a chance to run a complete 5K and earn my Thanksgiving dinner at the same time. And even though I didn't participate in the optional costumes, I sure did have a blast with Cruz dressed as a turkey and Tara dressed as the pilgrim who wanted this turkey for her special dinner:

I am so thankful to have Joe, who has been so supportive since I started working outside the home and is understanding when I have the chance to do something that requires me to be away - going to see Catching Fire on opening night, playing Bunco with fellow teachers and aides from the school, taking Zumba classes (I am in LOVE!) and taking off in the early morning to run before joining the family at his parents for Thanksgiving dinner.
Even though I have been doing things for myself, when it really comes down to it, my family is my life. I can never truly express how thankful I am to have them:
This year there is so much to be thankful for. I try to live my life being grateful for everything and everybody on a daily basis but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a day about food, family and giving thanks. It's one of my favorite holidays.
