Jadyn loves performing. She was so excited to have a part in the chorus for the winter musical at school and she always enjoys performing in the recitals for her dance studio. However, wouldn't it be our luck that this year the winter musical and dance recital ended up being the same week!?!?!
And what a busy week it was.
Every day after school was jammed packed with rehearsals, squeezing in homework before falling into bed utterly exhausted. But Jadyn was a trooper and we made it through.
Here she is before the first morning performance of Fee Fi Fo Fum (Jack and the Beanstalk). Jadyn played a villager:

The play was very funny and entertaining. I was fortunate enough to get to watch all 3 performances and see the show improve each and every time. I also helped out taking cast pictures, working the box office and organizing the cast party. No wonder I was just as tired as Jadyn.
And here are some pics of Jadyn before and during her cheer performance in the winter recital:
After the show, we went out to dinner to celebrate:
It was a whirlwind week. It was both fun and exhausting and we are so proud of Jadynn for working hard and not being afraid to go on stage and perform. She is our little shining star.

President's Cup
Jumping right back where I left off, the weekend after we adopted Bailey was Jake's All-Star soccer tournament. We felt like old pros after going to this same tournament the year prior. Saturday the boys played two games. The first one they lost in a heartbreaker 1-0 game that was scoreless until the last few minutes. The second game was not nearly as close but the boys still gave it their all. It is hard for our little community to compete with teams where the kids play soccer year round but it is still a great experience and Jake had several boys on this year's team whom he was already good friends with or had played on previous teams with so he really, really enjoyed himself.
In the last game on Sunday morning, the team really came together and you could see how much they improved over the course of the tournament. Jake too, played the best he had all weekend. So it really doesn't matter that they lost that final game as the progression of the team was so evident, it felt like a victory.
I love watching Jake play soccer and it has become clear that this is HIS sport, which makes it so fitting that this is my starting point after a 2 month unplanned hiatus on the blog. It's so fitting because I am in the middle of helping form a club soccer team in our area, which will allow Jake and his fellow soccer buddies to play soccer more competitively year round.
