Saturday was such a fun-filled family day. First we took the kids to see Monsters Vs. Aliens. The kids loved it. Jake was mesmerized the whole time and Jadyn made dramatic noises and remarks throughout. I thought it was okay and had some jokes to keep the adults entertained but it definitely held both the kids attention for the entire movie.
That night we dyed Easter eggs. While it was less messy than last year, it was still messy. The kids seem to think it is a race, taking the eggs and plopping them from color to color. Needless to say we ended up with some pretty interesting color combinations and even though I had promised to do it a couple days beforehand this year, I still ended up worrying about getting all the bright pink and dark blue dye off of Jadyn's hands. Never fear however. It turns out after a quick search on google that toothpaste gets out egg dye and sure enough, it did the trick. Not to mention the fact that it made Jadyn's hands minty fresh.
Sunday, Jake woke up super excited about the Easter bunny having visited. He located his basket and tore through the contents as quickly as possible. I left a half eaten carrot on the table with a note from the Easter bunny written on a napkin saying thanks. The kids got a kick out of that.
So after eating some candy for breakfast we dressed and made our way to Grandma and Grandpa's for Easter brunch, which did not disappoint. Scottie and Ali joined us, which made the whole event that much more fun to be celebrating with friends AND family. It was followed by our annual Easter hunt.
Here is Jake playing some baseball before the hunt began:
And Jadyn walking along the bricks:
Sadly this is the only picture of all the great-grandkids before the hunt began but do you see how almost everyone is in green? That was not planned.

Massive photo shoot followed. Family picture:

Jake with his second cousin Aliyah. She is as sweet as she is gorgeous and Jake and her always have a good time when they are together:

Included in the loot were some really cool water squirters and with the weather being plenty warm, a water fight quickly ensued.

Don't count Jadyn out. She could be very sneaky:
After Jadyn changed into dry clothes and Jake's had been thrown in the dryer, we finished out the afternoon monkeying around in and nearby this tree:
Exhausted from our long but very fun Easter weekend, we went home to get some rest because with Spring Break over, this week is jam packed with activities. And I still have tons of pictures to share from Joshua Tree and the Living Desert so the picture overload is far from over yet. Oh, and did I mention what's on tap this week? Jake's first t-ball game and his birthday party. The fun just never stops!
Looks like a fun Easter '09! I guess green was the "in" color this year. Your kids are adorable. I just love their Easter outfits. I left you an award on my blog if you are interested.
